Reply to "Good alarm, kill switch, GPS tracker for 356?"

I would do it with a bluetooth receiver. It will detect your phone into a ~30 foot radius and you can wire it to a bigger relay that will act as a kill switch to ground the coil.

This will do all the brain work for you : http://www.ebay.com/itm/12V-1A...9:g:IeIAAOSwknJXxm4Q

So wire the beefier relay to the normally open wires and the relay will trip and "unground" the coil when your phone is in range.

This looks all easy and cool until you start thinking of the safety and logic aspect ... what if your phone battery gave up as you drive on the interstate ??? what if you need to bring the car for maintenance or use valet parking (yeah ! over my dead body but just ... IF). You may need to look into a bypass switch to activate that relay (short red and green on this controller), if you need somebody to move the car without you if if your phone is about to die.

Another approach would be RFID into the driver seat :-> all you need is an RFID tag into your wallet and would not have to worry about having the phone in good shape and can loan the RFID tag to somebody who need to move the car if needed. This would require some sort of arduino or raspberry PI linux board to read&learn the RFID  tags turning this project into a geek school project :->. Their is "long range" RFID out there, I have done 3-4 foot reliably so in the seat, side door or under dash may be doable.
