Hey Guys,

Update on car.  I got the motor all installed and carbs jetted as per John at ACN.   Car is running great.   So now i am off to the next issue, ride height.  I notice looking at the car from the rear, the passenger side was sitting lower than the driver side.  I inflated all the wheels to specification.   I then started to adjust the rear height screws and found something strange.  I began to lower the driver side to match the passenger side of 21.5 inches from the center of the wheel to the fender arch.  I ended up with the screw all the way down and was only able to reach 22 inches.   I then went over to the passenger side and noticed that screw was turned in quite a bit.  So to level the car I would have to raise (or turn in the screw more).   I find it odd that the driver side screw would be turned out all the way the passenger side turned in quite a bit.  Could the builder have not put the splines in the same position on each side?   I am saying splines, but don't know what they are actually called.

^^What Greg said^^. If you're going to the trouble of leveling the car, do it with weight in the driver's seat. And it does sound like the rear torsion bars are not set up exactly the same and the builder made up for it with the spring plate adjusters. Not the best way to do it, but it does work, I guess...

If you go to the trouble of readjusting the rear bars, consider taking the adjustable spring plates out and replacing them with stock pieces. Once you get the ride height you want you'll never touch them again, they're way overbuilt for a street car (especially a < 2,000lb Speedster) and they're really, REALLY heavy. It'll be a good winter project. Al
