Starting a new thread to see who's in for a day-trip to Starved Rock, Illinois, which is a very short drive for you Fox River guys. As Tony pointed out, we kind've got lost over on the other thread, and started talking about Asheville, NC, etc.

This is Chris Starleaf's neighborhood, so we'll be relying on him to lead drives and organize meals.

Who's in?

@Starleaf1@Marty Grzynkowicz@Joe Fortino@Tom Boney@Rich Drewek@Tom Blankinship@Ndpendant@Verbieten@Jim Anderson@Panhandle Bob

Anybody else?

Ok:   Since we have moved to a new thread and most everyone involved is in agreement on the date and time,  I will restate the decided details:

We will meet at the main Lodge parking lot for Starved Rock State Park at 9:00 am Saturday July 22nd.

This is obviously a speedster drive but ANY vehicle is welcome.     This will be a casual and fun drive taking advantage of the scenic Illinois and Fox rivers and surrounding roads..   probably about 100 miles total,  depending on how hot it is that day.

Lunch stop and optional dinner stop to end the drive in the early evening.

Let me know if I have forgotten anything?

Gentlemen... sorry going to have to pass.  Bachelor party for my soon to be son in-law. Asked to attend and meet part of the wedding party (and probably help pay the bill).  Looks like day of golf, tailgate party, Brewer game, then... (guessing this is where the boys leave the dads behind and go off on their own).

Sorry I'm going to miss the ride, sounds like a great event.  Hope you all have a great day, and please post pics afterwards.

Bummer Jim, I am going to have to find a Saturday or Sunday this summer to hop up north of the border.

I've finally started my planned maintenance on my 76' Intermeccanica.   Got her up on jack stands with the wheels off.

My right rear wheel bearing started sounding "funny" last fall and this drive is the deadline I need to get the work done.

I'm going to replace all four wheel bearings, brake cylinders, flex lines and shoes...   front shocks I think too.

I need to get the correct parts ordered tonight

My bad, July 15th is the bachelor party.  July 22nd staff picnic... I get to grill out for my team and their families.  Unfortunately, still won't be able to make the event.

Joe - or I can come down by you sometime.  Cannot thank you enough for your hospitality in PA.  Really got the bug.  Front tank area all done in primer.  This weekend hoping to finish up front and rear bumpers (in primer), install new bracket kits and mount bumpers. Christmas came early... Tuesday got a package from Carey and today from Sierra Madre.  If I were married she would not be happy...

Loved your headlights so much, had to order a pair.

I hope everyone has made plans to join us July 22nd at 9:00 am!

I have been up to my elbows servicing my 70's Intermeccanica!    I ended up replacing both steering arms and 4 tie rod ends as well as all the brakes...    just waiting for my new master cylinder to show up in the mail (should be here tomorrow).

      It has been an adventure!

It hasn't all been work..    Yesterday Lisa and I did some driving around the Starved Rock area in my 914..    I hope the weather is this nice the 22nd.

I'm going to lead the drive through a couple of the areas in Ottawa that got heavily damaged by tornados in the late spring...  a lot of the damage is still very striking!

I'm 95% sure my speedster will be complete and road able by the 22nd...      if I have any unforseen problems I might just show up with the 914

Talking it over with Chris Starleaf and some of the other guys who plan to attend, the weather for tomorrow still looks pretty iffy.

Sunday however, the predicted weather looks beautiful. As such, we are pushing this get together back one day.

The new plan is to meet at the Starved Rock Lodge parking lot Sunday morning at 9 AM. This seems to work better for the majority of the people who are planning to attend. If it screws up somebody's plans, I'm really sorry. But please note the new time:

Sunday morning: 9 AM!
