I currently run 8" Fuchs 911 wheels in the rear and identical 7" in the front. All 4 are disc brakes on 225 tires. No rubbing, no issues. If I want to run the more "Outlaw" looking wheels, how do I find the right fit? The current wheels are 15".

Get steel wide fives (not chrome) in 15" or better yet old 16". Cut the bolt/vented centers out, add hunks to widen, and weld it all back up. Powder coat as desired - send old Fuchs to me along with Porsche 5 lug rotors, lug nuts and calipers.
Don't do it, your car looks perfect!

Cummon' guys- we need to help this man out! He wants to take a set of wheels that fit the car and are paid for, and change his brakes, hubs, stub-axles, etc., so he can run custom widened and recentered wide 5s on a widebody. Who wouldn't want to do that?
He's itichin' to spend $5000 a little bit of money so he can make his car look sort've like the one he references (same color). He probably has too much free time and money, and is looking to beat his head against a wall for a year occupy his hands and bankrupt his pension maximize his investment. Who can blame him for that? We're all sick in the head that way pulling for him!
You go, sir! We're all hoping we aren't next watching to see how it goes!
Not getting in the middle but there's a guy in NC or SC who custom builds rims. I got mine from him for my CMC wide body. I think it's Smitty's. He's on the Samba. Just throwing it out there.
$350 a pair I think
Ok, Stan, that's just too funny!
But not too far off the reality of these things...
David- As has been said (and you probably already know), this isn't going to be cheap, as you'll have to change hubs (and maybe the complete brake assemblies) to get the new bolt pattern, as well as custom built wheels to make this all work. And as Stan said, I'm " hoping we aren't next watching to see how it goes!"
Good luck amigo. Al
New shoes are not cheap
David, your question was how do you find the right fit, rather than negative feed-back that it could be a bad idea. I say if you prefer the vintage look or "outlaw" style wheels and have the money to make the swap work to your satisfaction then do it.
While we may have been the voice of caution with all this bantering.... the choice is always in your hands...
Another thought - Plastic Dip the existing wheels to a dull black or gun metal color. Its cheap maybe 4 cans and is easily peeled of if you change your mind. No need to remove tires - as it peels off the rubber easily.

Your car is pretty awesome looking .... Dale Bates' car was essentially what I looked at before I built mine and it was a toss up between black and this grey I settled on and short of building two I had to settle on one colour
Actually yes David... I finally got it all sorted and I am looking forward to Carlisle next year. I might even have my son with me who is now driving He is shifting the roadster with a SOG... But, we shouldn't wait till next year to at least do coffee sometime in September I can come your way and meet somewhere. Ray

Much THANXXXX...I love it...but BLACK is tough..shows EVERY fingerprint! I had the CERAMIC PRO treatment done so that it is any easy wash/dry/wipe but still shows every drop of dirt but that's okay...I'll live with it! If the car wasn't already black, I'd never order it that way despite how deep the black is when its crispy clean...

A friend has a black R8 and he had the whole car expel filmed... not cheap but eliminated the swirls and the colour was even deeper.
I have expel on the front of my daily driver and it has saved me a ton of repairs, BUT...
It will age over time and exposure to the sun and the only thing that you can do is pay to have it removed and replaced. I live in a hot, sunny, semi-tropical climate (Charleston, SC) so it probably ages faster than normal here, and my car is outside almost every day. Still, if it takes any damage or shows any wear you cannot fix it by polishing it. If I didn't drive in an area where there is a lot of debris on the road and a huge number of trucks (one of the biggest container ports in the country) I probably wouldn't have it. Just be aware and make an informed choice.

Ray, David: Next time I am down Ottawa way with the IM, the three of us can get together. Hopefully, that will be sometime this Fall.
