Maddie and I are in the exploratory phase of a potential Fall tour of North Georgia. We are exploring some interesting possibilities, and the direction we go will be based on level of interest and participation. We are looking at late September, a long weekend Thurs-Sunday, perhaps the 24th-27th. Keep in mind that Maddie will be taking the lead in planning and execution, therefore it is going to be absolutely amazing. I will planning the ride routes. Both of us want to strike a balance...Read More...

One step forward, two back. The frustrations are setting in ... OK, I am ready to finally install my narrowed trailing arms. Removing the old arm and I come across this: The pivot bolt seemed tight, but maybe not tight enough. I have read that they tend to want to back-off over time. There was only one washer on the outer face of the outer bushing, I have read there should have been two. To me, it looks like the arm was orbiting during operation. Today I will take a look at the other side.Read More...

I bought a new set of screwdrivers a couple of weeks ago on eBay to replace my 15 years old set . I don't know what happened to the quality of Craftsman screwdrivers but I've broken the ends off of three in a week. They have the correct part numbers on the handles but I wonder if they are shyt Chinese knockoffs. I compared my old ones with the same part numbers ( same print font) thentapping them on a vise the new ones have a complete different dull tone to them...crap soft metal.Read More...

I'm using one in my Spyder and have been looking for any info or opinions regarding how strong these transaxles are. I made the assumption that if Subaru bolts up engines to them that produce over 300 hp, they must be at least as strong as any VW box. The weak points on a VW box is reduced with a Rhino case along with all the other things like welded gears, bigger side plates, more splines, super diff's and so on. I haven't found any articles yet on the Subaru box. Anyone have any sources or...Read More...

I recently got a PM from a member who was wondering this very question. He understood that everyone was saying that it was a good thing to do, but couldn't understand WHY it was a good thing. Specifically, he was wondering how relays are protecting the switches that power devices. So here, for you folks who don't get into electrical things much, is Basic Relay Operation 101. First, a drawing of a switch and a relay (and bear with me - the first time the photo didn't take so I attached a...Read More...
