OEM ones were studs (not bolts). Oil change kit comes with new copper compression washers (for sealing the stud/nut connection) and one for the drain bolt. The nuts get tightened gently - 5 ft # torque - more will strip the soft aluminum alloy. VW Bug Oil Change Strainer & Sump Plate Kit
