8hp on a 1600/60 hp is quite significant. 8hp on my 172hp won't feel like much.

But definitely a worthy addition to a Kadron.

I put dual 35 Solexes on a sandrail. I used the K&N type cones that secure to the carb top with a hose clamp. Not much restriction there. Aircooled.net and CB sell them.
