Reply to "Better windshield bottom sealing"

I don’t think the bend is that radical, nor will it be difficult to bend and keep the basic shape of the aluminum trim piece, but I have never actually done it.  Like Alan and Mike, I just ended up pushing the rubber gasket up against the trim piece and declared victory.

When I installed my original windshield (which developed an inner laminate issue) I spent a couple of hours screwing with it and actually got everything to fit as advertised.  The next/new glass set may have been slightly different dimensions/curve or what - I don’t know, but it seemed harder to get everything to seat as it should.....   It seemed to want to rock back (front to back) as things got tightened down and things were moving about. That was when I took the official “Dr. Clock” approach and butted the rubber up against the trim, but that seems to allow the whole windshield to sit 1/4” farther back at the bottom, maybe more at the top of the glass, and that makes for a slightly sloppier fit for the top and side windows in my instance.

Not Earth shaking, in the grand scheme of things, but I thought it would be a nice discussion to hopefully give us a process for others to follow that works reliably and looks good.
