Reply to "Camshaft to lifter maximum spec"

I am currently building a engine. I’m measuring the space between the top of the lobe of the camshaft to the top of the lifter. It is to my understanding that there is a minimum spec of 0.040”(1 mm). What I would like to know what is the maximum spec?
