I believe that “burg” is a verb.  Things they serve perform the act of “burging,” making them “burgers.”

Believe me.

So technically the burgers serve the burgs and if several people go to the restaurant together they'd be burging.

But actually:

burg      /bərɡ/
noun

  1. an ancient or medieval fortress or walled town.
    • INFORMALNORTH AMERICAN
      a town or city.
