It is with heavy heart that I offer my project. It is a 356 Coupe, manufactured in China as one of 5 potential electric 356 Coupes. The manufacturer could not get the needed permits and so had them shipped to the USA, and had a friend, Beck/Special Edition, issue MSO for the 5 bodies with frames. The body is fiberglass and the frame is tubular stainless steel. They do not have a VW pan or suspension. The five partial cars were sold for the manufacturer by Tim McCracken who kept one of the cars for himself. This is that car that Tim kept and started building. Tim built custom front and rear suspensions, installed 4 wheel EMPI disc brakes, Fuchs style wheels, and new tires, (they still have the stickers on them), a freshly rebuilt, Pro-Street VW transaxle, a used Subaru engine out of a 2001 Legacy, headlights, taillights, driver and passenger windows. The doors and lids are installed and gapped. It has rack and pinion steering with a Banjo steering wheel, and Wilwood brake and clutch master cylinders, and pedal assembly which are fitted, but not permanently installed. There is a Recaro driver's seat and an original 356 Coupe passenger seat. It comes with a new ECM and attendant ECM wiring for a EJ25 engine and VW transaxle. The engine and transaxle are mated via a Kennedy Engineering adapter and clutch. The car comes with the all the glass, uninstalled except for the door windows, which are installed with electric motors, and it comes with a brand new Bosch starter. Many of the major systems are tack welded and will need to be fully welded after all the systems have been fitted. It still needs a radiator, fan, and cooling system. There is a gas tank, but it is not installed. The car needs to be wired and it has gauges, but they are not installed, and it comes with a headliner, also not installed. Off the top of my head, the big expenses still needed are the radiator and fan, the upholstery and carpet, shifter, paint if not owner painted. It mostly needs a lot of time to install systems and parts. Personally, I was going to sand and primer myself, but if not done by the owner, that will be a big expense. A 10" portion of the frame above the transaxle needs to be welded in as it was cut to make way for the transaxle. I am asking $20,000, and I have already turned down $15,000.
