That's what I understood, too. Mine is run along the firewall and then around to the sides on the inner wheel wells so it is 6" or so from the fan housing and/or carbs. When it ruptures, the suppressant is under pressure so it's gonna spray all over whatever fire is there and swamp the engine compartment.
