That sounds quite logical, in fact you could almost use the shape of the scatter plot to shape your cam. (Or at least after only half a cup of coffee that's sounds plausible)

This reminds me of a post Stan put up a while back about throttle feel, tip in and how all of that works to make a car feel zippy or sluggish. I trust your math skills to find a sweet spot.
