@swan4356 I was reading Porsche: The Classic Era, and these pictures stood out. The first two show banjo steering wheels on the 1952 Porsche America (predecessor to the Speedster) and a banjo on a 1956 Porsche Spyder. Id at pages 86-7 and 107, respectively.
