The only thing I'd add is that I DID get the custom mainshaft with longer first and second gears before I went with the 3.44. It was perfect with the 3.88, but pretty long for a 3.44.

A nice, cheap (4-speed) solution would be the 3.44 with a stock 1-3 and a .93 fourth. Live and learn.
