Reply to "Ladder Cross Member"

One of the minor "realistic" details I see on original spyders is a cross member running parallel to the axels roughly at shifter --- where the original hand brake mounts.

(I got to thinking about this while mounting an original style handbrake utilizing a nifty little nub mounting bracket supplied by Russ.)

Is there any reason not to just put a darn cross member on there? Flex or crash worries or something? If anything, I would think it would help a bit.

I mean, maybe it's just living in the oil patch, but structural pipe (e.g., pipe that is good pipe, but no longer good enough for the oilfield) is plentiful --- got a piece of just the right size.
