Original Spyders didn't have the 356 engine lid hinges.

They did however have a REALLY cool mechanism for the clamshell that Carey Hines at Beck has replicated and sells.

I couldn't find it on their website but I'm pretty sure they have them. I have one on my Vintage Spyder and it is AWESOME!
