This new (not rebuilt) starter from EMPI can be used on all vehicles with a Type 1 or 3 engine, manual trans, and a 12v electrical system. It installs into the bell housing of your manual transaxle. It fits 1967 to 1979 Beetle, 1971 to 1979 Super Beetle, 1967 to 1974 Karmann Ghia, 1967 to 1971 Type 2 (Bus, Single Cab, Double Cab), 1967 to 1973 Type 3 (Notchback, Squareback, Fastback), and 1973 to 1974 Thing models. Does not fit Autostick models.
