Oil Temp. gauge

Always had the problem with the oil temp. gauge reading. It barely
moves. Would like to see it in the middle of the gauge when engine reaches 200 degrees. Gauge is VDO with a VDO sender. Had the same problem with the T1 sender and same with the sender I using now that's for a 914 T4. I'm guessing it's because of the voltage drop between the sender and the gauge. Any way to fix this ??
