Reply to "Paint for an aging Intermeccanica Speedster"

I don't think the fiberglass body has much flex - something like a golf ball hitting it will leave hundreds of spiderweb cracks in the brittle gel coat.  To repair, each has to be Dremelled out down the fiberglass and filled in.  The big issue on painting fiberglass is the hi-build primer coats and careful block sanding to remove the gel coat orange peel, waves/ripples, and fiberglass strands showing thru to the finish. Even CMC charged more for the Black gel coat.
