Speaking of manuals, that's another reason I decided on Rotella straight weight. Multi-Visc wasn't a thing in 1967. The original VW manual recommends 30wt to 80° (or thereabouts) and 40wt 80°<. As it's generally above 80° when I drive my car, I went with the 40wt. Starts fine, even on cold days. (And what's not to love about 125 psi oil pressure? )
