I loved Motul gear oil in my RZ350 back in the day and loved it. I had completely forgotten about it.
I went to the Motul website: the Gear 300 is a synthetic 75W90 racing oil. The Gearbox 80w90 is a dino oil for "noisy transmissions". Both are rated for syncos and hypoid gears. The Gear 300 comes in an LS formulation for use with clutch-type LSDs
Thanks, Stan. I couldn’t remember which was which. I buy both, I run the synth in my 968 and my Smart. The Beck gets the Dino.
I had a long conversation with my Motul rep about the motor. After the 300V didn’t work out, I thought about using their Classic straight weight in the Beck but he, honestly, told me there is probably no real benefit to it over Rotella Motul’s gig is high tech oil for modern engines.
He was kind of surprised at my experience. He said tons of vintage racers run 300v in 356’s and air cooled 911’s. One of the selling points is that it won’t break down until 300°+, which makes it ideal for air cooled cars, and bikes.
