Aloha,

On my '67 Bug w/ an adjustable beam, I have the KYB GR-2 gas shocks for lowered suspensions. They ride extremely stiff but have made the handling on the car quite a bit more responsive (I also have a 3/4" Bugpack sway-bar upfront). My beam is adjusted to the lowest setting, which required these shocks. Perhaps, you may be able to adjust your beam where you do not need these shocks. Then, you could utilize the non-lowered KYB GR-2's. I don't know.

Can't remember the price, bought a few years back. However, any VW shop should have them.
