Older Intermeccanicas are great cars; I think you got lucky. From the looks of it it seems to be a great car with just a little tweaking needed. I actually like those 914 gauges and like others have said you can "356 them". Apart from the other tweaks suggested by the other members maybe you can add dual carbs and nice exhaust? Not sure how strict they are there with emissions.
