If you have a good insurance agent who uses Hagerty or the like, they will put the description that matches the title on the policy as long as you submit good photos to support agreed value.  This should satisfy CA, etc.

This was the route I went with Grundy. A lot of clear photos of the entire car, VIN matches the VIN on title, and it is insured or a stated/agreed value. They know it is a replica sitting on an old VW pan.

Just to be clear.   There is a difference between Stated Value and Agreed Value policies.  You DO NOT want a Stated Value policy.  You DO WANT an Agreed Value policy.

Mine is "agreed value" for the Speedster. I just confirmed because I need to add the Coupe build to my policy too.
