Oops, thanks for the correction, Rick. Bottom line, later=stronger/better.

FYI, I've had an early(3.80) 1st for 45k, beat the snot out of it. Roasted the tires MANY times, dumped the clutch etc. 180hp doesn't seem to be too much for early first with a 3.44 final.

Any rebuilt transmission with stock gears and stock R & P is not "all new". It may have new synchros and bearings, but most all the gears and cases and housings are from the 1960s.

And in my best Ahnold voice: "It's not a Super Beetle shaft"!
