I'll second both Vintage Motorcars in Hawaiian Gardens, CA or Beck in Bremen, IN. We've heard sad tales of other American builders and all of those stories are on here, so you can do a search on here for other so-called "builders" and judge for yourself. There are a couple you should really avoid and they should become evident in your searches, too.

There is place in Atlanta that buys finished cars from Vintage Motorcars (I believe they might be a dealer for Vintage, but not sure) and they take the time to sort out any issues and then sell them problem-free for a $2K or so mark-up. They might be an alternative for you, too.

Maybe someone can help with a name for them and contact info.
