This is low probability, but fits perfectly with what you're seeing and is easy to check. Reach inside your fan cage and check to make sure it didn't eat a paper towel or something that might block airflow.

Yes, I made this mistake and chased all of the other problems/solutions until I dropped the engine and said "D'oh."
