I purchased a speedster from Kirk at Vintage Sppedsters. Totally stoked and should be finished in about a week. I have a 1964 pan. I want to get the 1957 yellow california plates. I contacted www.oldpl8s.com and they said I have to go off the year the car is titled to, in my case 1964 which gives me black plates. Does anyone know how to circumvent this to get the yellow plates?

Thanks for your attention,

Mark

I have a set of 1956 black on yellow California plates that was last registered in 1962 (still has the sticker on it), so if I had a 1962 vin/chassis I could have used those plates. What Kirk at Vintage Speedster gave me in my recent purchase was a 1961 vin/ chassis. Missed it by one year! If I would have known how these nazi's at the DMV operate I would have had Kirk supply me with a 62 pan. Live and learn.
