Well here is something that probably will not be high on your add on list but could be handy for some.  It installed rather painlessly, the crux is essentially cuttin the up and down sides of the wiring and feeding both ends to specific module contacts for both windows.

I installed this system and it is pretty cool to have a one touch up or down on the windows.

The final step is to link it to my remote keyless entry door lock module.

This is EXACTLY what some people(ahem, LANE!) need.

Why you may ask? In order to get his new coupe on and off a rather small trailer where you can't open the doors. Why? The trailer is small and narrow and the trailer fenders are in the way.

With a coupe, you can't climb out without opening the door. I'm sure it's possible to get out through the window, but probably painful, especially to watch.

With this module, you can leave the window down and reach in to steer, set the brake, and/or put the car in gear when winching on and off the trailer. If it was me, I'd drive the front wheels onto the trailer bed, and get out. Then attach the hand winch and crank it on. Tie it down, set the brake, then magically roll the windows up from the remote fob. easy peasy, and slick.

This is where we differ, my friend- you call it painful, I call it entertaining...

Just read Gordon's response- save me a spot!

Well you know how it is when your sequestered in your garage you start looking at what you can do... just because you can

I did do a schematic for the install of the module, for future repair needs of course.

If  one of you guys want it, especially the IM guys who have hidden power window switches like mine, PM me and I will send to you.

Ahhhh.... baaaaa... you made me laugh Gordo, I guess I never thought about the window issue.  You mean you guys don't have roll up windows?   ... duh I really wasn't thinking about the model, eh, manufacturers differences at all.

Speaking of IM, I just heard from Robert that they are now back in full swing at producing IC cars and i would think if you want to get one of the final IM-IC cars I would go for it now,  as the window may be closing if the E-cars take off.

In any transition time it might be wise to have some contractual language inserted in the contract in case the build lasts forever... just saying.

Come to think of it I would insert such a clause in any new build, but that is just me.

No question,  it is a good thing that they are back to building cars Bob.

I was not complaining about my build time either but it did take over a year to get it done and I am very happy with my car.

I was simply stating the obvious fact,  that it could take more time to build a car going forward.

I also know that there were some, that had to wait up to 2&1/2 years to build a car and we are not talking about those who have waited more than 5 years for that ghost car builder that is often mentioned on this list, so I was just simply saying, caveat emptor.

Now if this snow can go and the street sweepers can hit the road we get back to DRIVING !

My build took about two years, from initial discussions to completed car.  There was a delay in getting the Porsche components that we needed, and that lost us about two or three months.  I enjoyed the build, so some extra time wasn't a problem.

No snow here.  I installed the new wheels today, and took them for a test drive around the neighbourhood.  Yes, lots of small pebbles on the roads still.

Cross your fingers that your snow will melt soon...

SNOW?

Who the heck has snow? It hit low 70's in southern Ontario this afternoon as I cleaned up a bunch around the gardens and sat in the back yard having a cold beer near the un-needed fire pit. It was hot in the sun!

You must be up in Ottawa near the Arctic Circle

So... don't we get to see pics?

imageimageFinal update on key fob remote.  Well I could not leave well enough alone so I decided to add a real power lock button, the one one the left,  that allows me to unlock or lock the doors  when I am in the car ... the keyless entry I have is programmed to auto lock the doors after ignition, and open them on ignition off but I had to kill the engine to open the passenger door or pull this smooth button to unlock it which seems to be impossible as I get older to do ....

I know it’s overkill, but I did it because I could and a hand mixer would not do.
