Just wanted to inquire if anyone knows whats going on at Vintage Spyder. Greg usually responds 4-6 months after I inquire about my car being built there (for the last 4+ years); but its been longer this time. Phone calls and emails go unanswered, but that is not unusual; this delay; even for Greg seems long. Is he out of business?

Sincerely Fred

4+; I've made every payment in full; contact me; before you act. I've owned a Beck, JPS, and presently a westfield X; had no problems with these builders; Chuck was a riot. If it is really being built, I am going to sell it immediately and do another westfield. Believe me you won't have to do anything special to have him ignore you. fred
Four plus years is absolutely incredible. Fred, you must have the patience of Job -- or money to burn! If you cannot reach Greg Leach, you might try contacting Joe Maddock, who seems to be his most dogged supporter and apologist. You might then consider contacting a lawyer.

Years ago I was very close to purchasing a Vintage Spyder, but I changed my mind in the eleventh hour, in part because of Greg's reputation for glacial delivery (I also had serious reservations about his non-triangulated, pseudo-space frame chassis design, but that topic has been covered ad nauseum elswhere on this site). I am now planning to bite the bullet and get a 906 replicar, which I feel would be the ultimate vintage Porsche evocation.

Regards, Peter

my patience is unremarkable and nearing an end. even if he would occasionally call or send an update or a photo once every 6-8 months, i would be happy. yes unfortunately i now have a lawyer.

on a more pleasant note, the 906 was a sweet car, didn't know they were being replicated; good luck

The phone answering bit didn't last. At this time, you will find yourself hard-pressed to get Greg to answer....same thing with emails. This type of poor-terrible communication doesn't work if the owner wishes to keep his business viable and healthy for any length of time. Greg nose-thumbed me for three months and I will never buy anything from him again. IMO, how VS manages to still stay in business is a mystery. Don't believe me? Check out more complaints in the archives of Spyderclub.

If I were going to purchase a new Spyder, Vintage and/or TR would be the last two companies I would deal with. Just my very educated opinion, since I have dealt with both companies. Sorry, Greg, I too used to be one of your supporters, but no longer.
