Way too good to be true. Perhaps no matching numbers, been in a serious crash and tons of bondo? Even that, the car interior is perfect and some adjustments would not be much to do.

The writeup, unless patently FALSE, suggests an original matching numbers car, WITH service records and one restoration. Looks darn good to me.....but YES..price a bit LOW?

The price is not that low for a B/C coupe but it is a good deal.

The market is a bit soft for coupes right now, not sure why but 60K is the going price for numbers-matching B and C coupes

...unless they're Carreras...

Because they look like Miss Piggy? (he ducks behind something as the crowd throws things)

356s kept getting worse looking as they went. The long-hood 911 was such a vast aesthetic improvement over the "C" that I'm not sure why anybody would want Porky Pig, when Jessica Rabbit was available.

You can buy a VERY NICE 1997 911(3.6) 6 speed, 70 thousand miles or better, for 60K on EBAY...the LAST of the AIR COOLED 911s. METHINX they are severely UNDERPRICED. Its the SMART MOVE....

Their prices are excellent...they advertise a 2000 BOXSTER 3.2 for 13K.....the motor alone is worth that for anyone looking to throw a "6" into anything! Its an "S" also....a freaking BARGAIN

You need to do your homework on the IMS.....I had a later model Cayman and it was the best handling car I have ever driven...

YOU are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about the CAYMAN...incredible handling and not surprised PORSCHE built it....CAYMAN should get considerably more RESPECT..

My neighbor had a Boxster and the IMS seized and grenaded the engine...and you are right, the replacement engine was about $17,000 installed....he just sold the rest of the car for parts and wrote it off... No Bueno ...

I agree with @Stan Galat

i absolutely love the 356 Pre-A (both split and bent), and A. But that's where my love affairs ends. The simplicity in design was lost with the B & C, IMHO......that is, unless one hands it over to Rod Emory to do his magic, as he did with the B attached to this post. (So sexy). Then the sparks fly again.

But with 5K of preventative (update IMSB) maintenance, frequent oil changes, and open filter inspection makes them the best bang for the buck.

The IMS and RMS are the things with that engine that are freaking everyone out. And Porshce did a terrible job of customer service when they started going bad. So slab side design, and engine that blows up, stick Mexican radio knobs, etc.. But all that is to your advantage. You can preemptively have both RMS and IMS replaced for $2k. And because of the bad rap, prices have dropped to the $20k range for a clean 996. (I had a Targa . Over 300hp, stuck to the road, no fumes, cold ac, hot heat, ....and it was kick ass.) I bet the 996,  goes the way of the 964. When the 964 came out in 1990, everyone hated it. It had a problem with the dual distributor. You could find them cheeeeap. Now you would be pressed to find a clean one for under $40k.

I'm of the mind to buy the newest one that you can afford. Like a 2009 and up Cayman S. Outstanding handling and driving dynamics. Make mine a 6 speed. Model year 2009 and up the IMS is a non issue, I believe the motor no longer has an intermediate shaft and also is direct injection. Not a fan of the Boxster's  look but damn the hips on the Cayman are sweet. Amazing to me that they are the same but oh so different. Track day car anyone?
