Geesh, you IM guys can be downright snobs sometimes.

Kirk used to buy bodies in bulk and stack them up out back, awaiting orders.

I doubt that this was a formal 'curing' process, but at least some probably sat there for months before the painstaking two-week build process began. So, by design or not, there was maybe a fifty-fifty chance that any given body might be seasoned a bit.

And then, owing to the speed of the Mexican transport industry, each body could have been in transit another month or two before it reached the famous racks of Hawaiian Gardens.

At any rate, five years down the road, mine seems to have not much more waviness than when it was new.

Did i say 'waviness'? I meant patina.

I know that Carey Hines at Special Edition/Beck now does all his bodies in-house in Indiana.

Greg at Vintage Motorcars does coupes, Speedsters, and Spyder bodies in-house at his new shop in Hawaiian Gardens.

I'm pretty sure Henry at Intermeccanica up in Vancouver is an in-house guy too.

JPS and "new" Vintage in AZ are unknown. Did I miss anything?

I know I've been very fortunate (mechanical and cosmetic) with the two VS cars I've owned.

My current daily driver VS is now 3 years old with 35,000Km (22,000 miles) and still holding up very well. YMMV.

You made up a new word!!!

"Accessment":

Noun  - the evaluation or estimation of the availability of someone or something.

Usage: "Our accessment of newly delivered 356 replicas is weak from SAS and JPS, but is strong from Special Edition and Vintage."

It's a beauty. .  . and one of the two Vintage Speedsters I've most admired.

How do you get/keep that incredible shine?
