Hi Guys, i'm going to be selling my JPS built, JDM Subaru-powered Speedster this Spring and wanted to post it here first.

I'm in Southern Califronia and worked directly with JPS to build this to my spec. I took delivery of it in August 2016 and have since put on about 1500 miles on it. I've had it JPS sort out any issues, though to be honest, never had any significant problems.

The build is in line with what you see on this JPS Options Sheet with some notable upgrades:

  • 2.5 DOHC JDM Engine -- ~230hp
  • Heated Seats
  • Heating / AC
  • Full leather seats AND dash
  • New in box California Car Cover
  • Matching blue Coco mats

Here are a few photos but i'm hoping to get some new ones that show the color better -- it's a hair lighter than shown in these pictures.

It's been garaged since day one and with the exception of a small scratch (smaller than a penny)  under the front right headlight, is in more or less new condition.

Will be posting at $36k

Hi Alb,

It's been a fun car and is a blast to drive with that engine, but admittedly I was looking for something I could drive more frequently throughout the year.

To answer your questions, it does have IRS and a 3.88 transmission. Discs all around and 185 x 15 tires.

To be honest, i don't recall what RPM the horespower rating was at. It was on the dyno about a year and a half ago up at Outfront Motorsports, where the engine came from. I got the rating over the phone.

The JPS spec sheet has more info on it. Find it here.

Being is Southern California, why can't you drive your Speedster frequently throughout the year? What am I missing?  Come to Indiana, Its 22 degrees out and snowing, that stops me from driving my Speedster LOL.. By the way, your car looks very nice, good luck in the sale.

A few not good reasons for this one. First, after years in Southern California, you actually become a wuss to anything below 60 degrees. I used to live in New England and didn't wear sweaters unless it was below 20. Now i wear them at 55.

But more seriously, I tend to work long days and it can be in the 40's - 50s in the AM when i go to work and in the 50s and dark out when i come home much of the year. It's doable, but it's not quite as enjoyable. And i refuse to use the top or side curtains.

As I said, not good reasons but...

And things like THAT are why I installed my Gas Heater.

Yes, I have the bomber jacket (but not with as much fleece as "Wooly Boy" up above), but my fleece lined snowmobile "Snoopy Hat" went away when I started wearing my crash helmet on my snowmobile (and at 102hp on my SkiRoule, I needed it).

Now I let the heater warm things up, toss my jacket on the passenger seat and hop in to a nice toasty car.  I actually like driving with the top up and windows in and the heater easily holds the car at 70º.  Adds three or more months to my driving season, easy.

Now if they just kept all that darn salt off the roads......

You live in a place that has one of the most desirable climates on the planet. Living in a place that is no where near top down weather for a good 5 or more months of the year, I don't really know what to make of an explanation like that...

I grew up Manhattan Beach and in my early 20s I bought a brand new convertible Rabbit.  The novelty wore off after a few months and subsequently the only time I would put the top down was to put a board in.

When I get a 356 replica, it will be a coupe because now in my early 60s I have to go to the dermatologist every 6 months to get various forms of skin cancer removed.  Still love the weather here, but I am so over the sun and sun tans.

For those interested, I took some new photos today of my Speedster as well as a start-up video (if the site lets me upload that).

I apologize the color is so saturated, the sun was not as cooperative as I was hoping, though it does show the range of shades in the blue. In direct sunlight, it’s very much a medium blue but in shadows it goes as deep as navy.  For the interior, several of the photos make it look much more orange than it is. The color in picture “IMG_0047.jpeg” is pretty accurate though.

I'm well aware that the car is in deep need of a detailing, which i will be doing before i post this internet-wide, or ship to a buyer, whichever comes first.
