New here and looking for suggestions on buying a speedster fiberglass body. Having already rebuilt, fabricated, painted ect VWs I have decided to challenge myself with a sportster.

Now I realize this might be opening a can of worms here, but I'm lost at who still makes and sell just bodies. Half the google links are deadends, companies are bought out, moved, temporally on hold. I am planning on a visit to Carlisle unless my Doctor decides he wants to cut me open, another story.

Driving across the country is not a problem.

 Thank You

Since you're in Pennsylvania you may want to contact Carey @chines1 Beck: Special Edition http://www.beckspeedster.com/ and see what he can do for you. He is one of our top builders but the only thing I'm unsure about is whether his body would fit a VW pan. Carey builds his cars with a custom tubular chassis and custom pan. Or you could buy an unfinished roller sans paint and all the trimmings and build away.

Another option is to contact Greg @VSpyder at Vintage Motorcars https://www.vintagemotorcarsinc.com/ . He is another top builder and he is located in California. Greg builds pan based Speedsters and could hook you up as well.

I'm 58 now but this is what I looked like at 24 years old  and yes steroids were involved and some hair dye I believe. Wow, the 80's were a weird time, I can't believe I went on stage wearing that thing LOL.. My wife now calls me the body builder gone bad. You will have to come to Carlisle to see what I look like now.

That was a lot of work and hours in the gym Congrats

The Rusty Tubs Speedster doesn't have the sub-frame attached to body - you do have to buy it separately.  Add up cost for all the individual parts needed as they add up quickly!

I'd contact DrClock (now in Elkins WV but was in Chambersgurg PA) - he has built many Speedsters (46?) and has people call him out of blue with leads on cars.  Your best bang for buck is a complete kit - either unbuilt FF/CMC (Yes they still exist 30 years after going out of business) or one needing refurbishing.

NOT MINE. Here's complete car for $10.5k in Ohio that looks decent-
