The Beck was the one that brought $35,000. The Vintage brought $41,800 plus fees.

Do you mean $41,800 with fees.  The sold price was $38,000 for the Vintage.

@Robert M

Kirk stopped using the smaller door pockets several years ago and went to the long door pockets.  That was the only reason I thought it was an older build.

I watched the Blue Beck action but didn't record it.  I would have sworn the guy said built on a VW chassis.  I don't believe that Beck has done that for some time now.

I misread the post then Troy. I thought you mentioned the Beck was an older build.

I going by what I printed out off of Barrett-Jackson.com. I'm reading it and it shows Lot #368.1 a 1958 Vintage Porsche Speedster re-creation with less than 2,350 original miles and finished in Brilliant Creme Brule with correct-style Cocoa interior, etc., etc., etc., TITLED AS A 1968 VOLK. The Status is "Sold" and the Price reads "$41,800.00."

Then the video scoreboard was incorrect.

This sounds like a rendition of "Who's on First?".

LOT 352 Blue Beck Speedster Sold for $38,500 not including fees:

BJ Details page says it is titled as a 1970 Volkswagen. I didn't think any Beck's were titled as a Volkswagen.

LOT 368 Cream colored Vintage Speedster built car Sold for $41,800 not including fees:

Says it is titled as a 1968 Volkswagen.

At least the announcers had some information this time. With the others I have watched, they go silent for a while when replica Speedsters hit the block. They can give you a fun fact about how a radio knob on a Mustang is smaller by 1/72 of inch on the left as opposed to the right but have no information other than replica Speedster for these.

I also get a little miffed that the fiberglass 55 Chevy bodies they slap on a modern chassis are called a 55 Chevy, not replicas. I know our cars are.....I would just expect those are too.

"Brilliant Creme Brule"=oxymoron.

"The announcers are very well versed on most vehicles, it amazes me what they do know and point out."

Well, not quite.  I sat in the "Cheap seats" at the Amelia Island auction once, not far from the two "announcers" (they put them way off to one side and they sit there viewing their monitors of the presentation area).  Not only do they have "cheat sheets", but they have a producer talking in their ear making sure they mention all of the salient points on every car.  I was far enough away from the "action" up front that the announcers became the main attraction for me!

I'm sure this is the same speedster that was for sale late last year. I recognize the blue/red combination and yellow fog lights.   It was under consignment with an exotics dealer in Michigan, they were asking $50,000 at that time.  The Vintage car looked like the one that was for sale, also consignment, in Salt Lake City.  If I remember correctly, they were asking around $35,000.  It came with the car cover on the floor in the video and the owner still had the original aero mirrors, the holes matched where the racing mirrors are mounted.  I talked to the dealer around October and he said the owner had decided to sell it at the auction, so he sat on it another 6 months.
