In this day of poor service becoming the norm in many areas of our lives, I want to report on some great service I received from a company in Tiawan--of all places.

This is "Vintage Speed" at: http://www.vintagespeed.com.tw/

When Jake Raby installed my new TypeIV engine 3-4 different exhausts were tried using his dyno to get the best combination of appearance and performance. I did not want one of those mufflers with miles of tubing that doesn't fit under the car because the look I was after
was that of stock. I wanted a tri-mil looking muffler with A-1 performance and we located one from Vintage Speed that worked even better than the Python from CSP. That's the good part.

The bad part is that in Morro Bay two baffles came loose inside the muffler. Yikes---such a sound it made! I was able to remove the baffles after I got home. Then another baffle came loose on the way to Carlisle and there was no way to remove it. The spot welds failed in both instances.

I emailed Vintage Speed and not only did they replace this muffler
but paid the shipping and had it here in three weeks. Plus, Mr. Lee
made it custom with tailpipes that were 1 1/2" longer at no charge
so that the exhaust clears the bottom oif the car which will prevent the stains I was getting before. Thanks to Jake too, who told me how great these folks were and to ask for a replacement.

Talk about standing behind your product! I reccoment this company without reservation. They make a wide assortment of VW type products; mufflers, shifters, gauges and lots more. Good looking and creative stuff. Check out their line at the web address above. Tell 'em Jack in Hot Springs sent you.

It's good to hear about good customer service and good to hear someone who took the time to document their appreciation. Doesn't happen often enough in the rat race world we live in.

Reminds me of the famous Yugo guarantee. When engines started to fail at the 10 to 20 thousand mile range, Yugo duly replaced all the failed engines under warrenty. Unfortunatly, the replacement engines were identical in every respect to the failed engines, so you know how that result went!
