The amortized cost over the usual support life can run in the millions of dollars. They are a rewarding and heart breaking at the same time. Sometimes they will really disappoint and at other times they will make you realize the meaning of and your place in the Universe.

I forgot was thinking of children or Speedsters?

You've been in the ganja box again, haven't you?!

GK, that is a good question. I will be interested to see what others say.
IMHO it is a very very small market. (Especially considering what else you could get for that money. )
Personally if I throw down that much I want to see a return of some kind on it when the time comes to sell. Replicas are hard to do that with. I am thinking of selling my IM roadster ; if I get $45k, I will only loose a few grand - that is me doing all the work over the past 4 years. Will it bring $45k?
So ... is there a market for the $65k replica? I certainly hope so.

I have a expensive replica too, so perhaps I’m a bit biased — but I sold my last spyder that Carey built for me for almost as much as I paid for it (shy a few grand), and it was more expensive than this car.

I think someone who is in love with speedsters would look at their alternatives. A similarly priced Genuine *steel* Speedster I owned sold for north of $400k and didn’t even have Rudge wheels. So relatively speaking, this car is still a bargain, if the fit and finish are good (and it appears to be, by my eye).

BECK has sold a few pre-owned speedsters for $40k, so I think that demonstrates that there is a market, albeit small, for those very special cars. This is one of them!

Not only is the Speedster replica small, but it's only a tiny fraction of that already small market that would be able to comment knowledgeably about the extreme upper end of the sales market.

I am NOT one of those knowledgeable folks, but Anand Arajani, just above, certainly is.  If someone is looking for expert advice, his would be most useful.  Most of the contributors to this site are lower to mid-market folks like me, who follow values and sale prices of the more common Vintage, Beck, JPS, etc. models.

Hey everyone

thanks for the all the nice comments.   Yes it’s an expensive build which made me amazingly happy.  I’m aware it won’t appeal to everyone but if I was in the market today I would definitely be interested in a higher quality build.    The engine makes all the difference and puts a big smile on my face every time I drive.   Anyways I want to thank everyone on this forum.  It’s a great place to be apart of. I truly learned a lot here before during and after my purchase.

Hi GK,

I am a guy who has owned a Vintage(25k) and I currently own an Intermeccanica(90K).

There is a difference in builds and all of the makers do it a little differently.

You have to determine what you really want, and that will dictate where you will end up on the price spectrum.

I would agree that the market for replicas above 60K is very small, but there is a market.

Once you start customizing a car, it doesn't take long to get to these type of numbers.

You can find fixer uppers in the upper teens and ready to go like this one and everything in between.

Good luck with your search and this board can definitely help you out with any questions you may have.

That is the beauty of our hobby. There’s room for everyone at the table (or under this big tent) regardless what you pay.
It just boils down to what you want and how much you’re comfortable spending.
When the gentlemen from Road Scholars went through my car down at Monterey last year, they were baffled that you could get into a beautiful hand built (bespoke) car for the prices the major fabricators sell them.

I feel seen. And also slightly comforted....
