Hi everyone, I have decided after 20 years to go ahead and get a Beck. I guess I am the ultimate procrastinator. Always loved the 550 since I can remember and now I am in a position to do something about it. Selling off my Ducati collection (anyone interested??)

I plan on using the car mostly just for track days and an occaisional drive to work. I live across the street from a track and am within 2 hours of two other tracks. I plan to drive the car to and from events, not trailer it.

Here's my question to the group: What options would anyone reccommend for the intended purpose? I have already decided on the big engine, ported/polished, SS lines and fittings, aluminum valve covers (and all the pretty stuff), 4 wheel disc brakes, and I plan on having a proper roll bar and 5 points installed by my local Porshe race shop. What else am I forgetting/going to need to do??

Also, before I plunk down a deposit I really would like to see one again in person. The last one I saw was about 18 years ago in Florida at Sebring. If there is anyone in Michigan (northern Indiana too) that has one I would be interested in meeting you and checking out your car.

Thanks,

Doug,

My 2003 Beck with 3,000 miles on it is for sale at Fibersteel. It has all of the options you mentioned and more. I recently shipped it from Honolulu to the Los Angeles area.

I realize that this doesn't help you in your request to see a Spyder in Indiana but thought you might be interested in this car. The new Becks with the same options are selling for over $36,000.

Doug,

From one procrastinator to another...I borke down last year and bought a new Beck. Take my advice and don't do that....You're much better off buying a car that has been driven and sorted than buying a new one and having to go through all that frustration. I've had mine about a year now and only about 3 months ago did I get it completely sorted out.

Just my opinion.

Aloha Doug,

Log onto Spyderclub.com and view photo's and specs on my spyder in the classified section under 2003 Beck for sale. Call Russ at Fibersteel for the price (818)681-8440. He is selling the car for me.

2165cc engine, 2.9 1st, 3.88 R&P trans, Disc brakes front & rear, Brandwood cable shifter, cnc ported heads, electronic ignition, Fibersteel interior, Nardi wheel, tonneau, top & side curtains, headrest faring, Vintage magnaflow exhaust, Porsche valve covers, Spyder air cleaner tops and more.

Silver Blue w/tan interior.

Oahu has become grossly overpopulated. Close to 1,000,000 people crammed onto a pretty small space. I grew tired of sitting in traffic every time I took out the Spyder.

Mahalo,
Ken
Hi everyone,

Thanks for the replies!

Terry - About the sorting out, could you tell me more of what some of the issues were? Anything major or just a bunch of little annoying stuff?

Ken - I can understand the overcrowding. That's why I left south Florida. Thanks for the details, a litle more than I was planning on doing, but really really nice! I checked out the photo's. Very impressive. I'll have to see what pans out with thinning out of my Ducati collection and I'll keep watching your car. Thanks again.

Mike - Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on it if I can't find a 550 within reasonable distance. I have seen ads for one in the Chicago area but don't remember exactly where I saw it.

Thanks again. More replies welcome!

Doug
