Hi! Recently, I asked about my speedo making a high pitched noise while the needle went nuts. I haven't done anything about it yet, including disconnecting the gauge from the cable to possibly diagnose the problem, but plan to as soon as I can get someone to do that or God forbid, I should do it! ha
Today, I noticed that despite the speedo noise and the needle that has now locked into place at zero, the odometer and the trip meter both work! How is that? Can anyone explain this to me? Should this tell me anything about what's wrong with the speedometer? v

Vicki,

that tells you your speedometer cable is good and your problem lies in the speedometer portion of that guage. It could be a simple as as lose needle, but since it was making a noise I suspect the internals of the speedo itself has failed....leaving the odometer and trip odo working fine. Not a common failure in my experience but sounds like whatcha' got....

sorry!

Jim
Leon! I just looked to make sure (you'd think that driving it every day, I would know what color the face plates are! But maybe that's the reason I didn't know--I see them every day.) Anyway, the gauge plates are black with white numbers. So, do you have ALL gauges in that other color or just the speedo? Also, if I buy your speedo gauge, where would I get a black face plate? Thanks for your interest in my problem. I really appreciate it. v v
Vicki...I have only the speedo.. The original speedo in my car had a malfunctioning trip odo.....Beck Motor Sport shipped a replacement unit, which (guess what) had a different color faceplate, and malfunctioning trip odo....I stripped my original speedo shimmed the gear train to keep things lined up and shelved the replacement unit.

I just went and got the replacement unit. The face plate is black with green numbers for indicating speed and white numbers on black for the trip odo and regular odometer.....This unit still has it's trip odo problem....It is fixable and while dismantled changing the faceplate is a matter of two (2) screws.....one on either side of the needle hub.....

I would be happy to do this for you if desired....The bezle is a bit of a bear to get off and on and will not be "show room" fresh on the dashboard (back) side when completed....
You could ship yours to me and pick it up at Carlisle....OR... Give it to me at Carlisle and I would ship it to you when finnished....
Either way saves shipping charges one way, but leaves you speed blind at some point....

Price $50.00 as is....$60.00 fixed... plus shipping....
