Jake has some *views* on this subject. You may want to touch bases with him. Some people like 911 shrouds, the concern is over-cooling.

If you mean the Porsche 911 type conversion kits, buy a kit that comes with a REAL Porsche 911 alternator and fan, not some kludge arrangement.

I just like the look and thought if there was any HP gain, $900 wasn't that steep for the alternator, shroud, oil cooler and thermostat all together, tous ensemble.

Thermostat????? Not even Porsche uses a thermostat in their cooling system, just in the oil system(LOL)

I had a Bernie Bergman 911 type shroud put on my 1776 a couple of years ago. Pros and cons below
Pros
looks great in a speedster engine bay
cools the motor on the hottest days
Cons
Very time consuming to put on. This is NOT an easy job.
Carb set-up is a bitch.
Actually cools my motor too much!
You're much better off going with a doghouse shroud and a type 2 cooler and save yourself a lot of time, money and grief.
Some say that there is a large power loss with the BB system. I don't buy this, though I think power loss might be a bit more than a beetle shroud.

Doghouse shroud and type 3 cooler, or modified doghouse shroud (Gene Berg sells the kit and/or will do the mod for your) and a type 4 cooler.
