OK Folks, below is description of a product from AirCooled: spring loaded push rod tubes.  I just copy/pasted, so formatting is ???  My stock tubes  leak a bit and would be REAL cool if I could fix that.  What would the cognoci here say about all of this?

Spring Loaded Aluminum Push Rod Tubes, Silver, Set of 8

Product photo shows a single tube, but this product is for EIGHT (8) of them to do one engine!

Spring Loaded Aluminum Push Rod Tubes, Silver, Set of 8 are fantastic tubes for the money! The come with silicone seals and o-rings, and are a complete kit for an easy installation. Springs self adjust the length and tension too! These are stronger than stock tubes, with a spring to get the proper pre-load. These tubes have a 7/8" ID on the head end to clear high lift rockers too! You can install this without removing the head, just remove the rockers and push rods, and yank the old ones out.

This style eliminates the PITA Jam Nuts by using a spring to provide tube tension on the seal under all engine temperatures (Engines expand and contract as they change temperatures, which is why sprung tubes work better than fixed ones.

Price: $79.95

Kelly,

I used Jaycee Push Rod Tubes when I re-did mine in January of 2016 and I have been very happy overall with the quality. I bought them from CB Performance. They weren't the cheapest set and they weren't the most expensive. I've had good luck with Jaycee products and I've had great luck with these.

I'll tell you thought hat when you install them start with the tubes closest to the front of the car and work back. Your hands will be slippery from oil so if you have a 1-1.5" wide piece of leather handy it'll help. Wrap the leather around the tube in a U-shape and pinch it tightly with channel locks or something and it'll give you a good grip on the tube to compress it. The springs are really strong.

Here's my write up from when I did mine:

You'll be happy with the spring loaded pushrod tubes, either the ones from Air Cooled or CB.

Installation tip:  Assemble the tubes for installation (with springs, gaskets & o-rings in place), then compress the springs  --  Hold the springs compressed with a zip-tie.  Now the tubes are short enough to hand position between the hole in the case and the hole in the head.  When happy with tube/hole alignment  --  Clip the zip-tie to spring the tubes into place.

When I had to replace my rocker arm shafts I also replaced all of the pushrod tubes with CB Perf. 1558 threaded tubes.  I love 'em.  They don't leak.  They're a pretty blue, but no one knows that because you can't see them under there!

Unfortunately, they're no longer available from CB    so if they ever need replacing (and I don't see why, because they all came with three sets of internal O-Rings and they're adjustable) I'll probably install a spring-loaded set.
