Any one fitted a bigger sump? was gonna but bin put off I think u only need it if u r ragging it or got big engine ?

I have the CB Performance thin-line sump. Between that, the internal oil cooler, the external oi cooler, the external filter, and all the plumbing, I have somewhere around 6 qts of oil capacity. It stays a bunch cooler that way - particularly useful where I live.
Stock 1.5 qt of oil is not much!
I have the CB thinline extended sump plus external oil filter and plumbing (no oil cooler here in MI). I have 4.5 quarts of Brand Penn onboard. The lowest point on the car is my A1 sidewinder and the thinline sump is no lower than my engine mount.
Oliver, I don't think it's necessary on a stock engine, but if you go bigger, and increase the horsepower, the addition of a sump is a good idea.
I put 120,000 miles on my 1970 beetle (dual carbs & header/extractor)and it was still running decently when I sold it. No sump-heck I didn't even have an external oil filter.
Having said that, with my new high performance 2275 I went with a Gene Berg sump, extra external oil cooler/fan, and external oil filter.
