Well..... a little more progress... we may make it this year yet.... The leather color is Roadwire Plum...not a every day color but this car is not a everyday car with 300 hp. Will have a front view very soon.

Well Mike, Good things are worth waiting for I guess. I registered my car in Florida as an 07. Antique plates and all for the "year" the car represents (1957) No emissions requirements. Easy, I know California is more invovled good luck hope you get that SB 100 waiver.

Will you be registering as a special construction or attempting the SB-100 method?

Dale....No SB 100 for me......I have selected the Chapter 5 route...This requires registering as a re manufactured vehicle. I have visited with our famous DMV and I think this is my best shot. I will be talking with our friends this week and will keep you posted. SAS has worked to provide the documation and various smog requirement modifications required by California.......

Photo's from builder... sorry that's the best he can do.....I have a lot of photo equipment and will provide pictures after someone in NJ provides the one's he promised...I realize that there will be some items that require my attention but I want the car in my garage now.....I have the money put aside to take care of those problems but I will be ready for the April function. I appreciate the feed back and look forward to traveling the west coast roads......

Well after traveling 4 days the beast is home......Horseless Carriage is first class. The trailer was spotless and the Black Beauty was surrounded by over a million dollars worth of cars but she road on top the whole way. I'm afraid I should have named the car Jet Sled...... wow!...And it's raining which never happens in Santa Barbara..Oh well what's a couple more days......

Michael, Your long awaited efforts finally paid off. Sorry but I am one who belives Steve Lawing is one man trying his best to produce the finest 356 replica. Drive it. Drive the hell out of it. Umm John, did I miss something? I've always been intrigued with the SAW/SAS product and a big supporter of their approach. Yes, like others, I've expressed concern over the production delays, but that hardly makes me a naysayer. But thanks for the unrelated pot-shot.

Every one of the cars they've built have looked great and had generally excellent feedback (relative to the spectrum that is shared here about all builders). I've also talked here and privately with at least two of the owners in detail, as well as with Steve himself.

I'm not sure where you are coming from with your comment, so I'll leave it at that.

Other than build time concerns, I've never had a bad thing to say about Steve and his product. Quite the opposite, I've been interested in one for a long while and still haven't given up the idea of ordering one.

Micheal - I reeeeally like the way the (almost) stock wheels look with the flares. Nice and clean. I assume that they're wider than the normal 5.5s, right?

Michael: Love the fog light setup. Can you tell me manufacturer and any suggestions for the set up?

Lane The wheels were custom made....The back are 8 1/5 inch wide and the front are 7 inch. After the car was painted the builder had to radius the wheel wells for a correct fit.....Not a good thing....but they don't rub now.......

Dennis......The fogs are original Hella's from Germany...I found them on Ebay..... bid somewhere around $800.00 to win the auction.... I have a set of Marchal's that I will sell for $200.00 plus shipping.... These have never been used.......

Like Christopher Walken would say , " Wow ! Oh Wow!" Man! That beauty in the California sunlight is stunning. It was nice in the Tennesee Shop, but in your dirveway in SB, it takes on a whole different aura! Congrats! Better wear a neck brace for the acceleration.
