Don't believe that the "sag" dimension is cast in concrete. I installed mine with a bit less sag than spec. I accelerate aggresively and have never had any clutch shudder issues. Between that, liberally greasing the cable, and careful Bowden alignment to be sure the cable didn't rub on the tube ends, I ended up with HALF the clutch pedal effort and no decrease in performance.

I guess our lighter cars and larger engines, compared to the original vehicle, has modified that spec a bit - but dont make the bowden tube straight or leave it out - as one SOC member did recently! I'm saaying a little less can be OK, a lot less is definitely trouble.
