One more "new Owner" question. I know this has been discussed before, but I am interested in opinions. I have a Branwood cable system on my Beck and the shifting is decent, but I was considering a Jamar mid-engine shifter tied to a Pro-X. Will this give me a more positive shift action and improve shifting ease?

Thanks,

Scott

Jamar is a good unit but incredibably difficult to initially set up.

If you clean the heim joints located on the nose cone of the transaxle with "Brake Clean" then squirt the moving parts with spray "white lithium" grease, you'll see a noticeable improvement.

There are also a couple of heim joints inside the shifter box that need the same maintenance.

Anytime anyone comes to me for service or modifications, regardless of what kind of a shifter is installed, I clean and lubricate all moving parts and they all can feel a difference.

If you have a rod shifter be in Jamar or Beck, you need to do the same maintenance but you also need to lubricate the rod where it passes through the rear firewall and at the bushing under the engine.
To bring the readers up to date on my experiences with Brandwood, Larry installed one on a 2002 Beck I previously owned. The Brandwood allowed me to shift positively and without the false neutrals and vagueness that plagued the original shifter.

Larry, it seems that you had mentioned that another company here in the United States was manufacturing a cable shifter similar to the Brandwood, but with higher quality. I heard a rumor that the Brandwood had or has planned to have their product made in China. Have you any information as to what the current "best" cable shifter is at the present time?
