I have wanted to install bumper guards to my speedster, but have a few comments/concerns.

As I understand, the reproductions purchased either through: Vintage, Special Edition, Stoddards, Sierra Madre, etc won't perfectly fit our bumpers, as the reproduction bumper profile is different. I recall hearing Special Edition welds, grinds, polishes each bumper guard to fit perfectly.  But that has a price.

Just curious, why do folks buy the reproduction bumpers and deco trim that are incorrect, instead of just buying real bumpers and trim from Sierra Madre, Stoddards, etc.  It's the difference of a few hundred bucks, but I assume the cost of welding, grinding and polishing each bumper guard would eat that savings.  The reproduction deco trim is actually more expensive than the real deco trim......

I have OLD CMC - their repro over-riders fit perfectly.  They are cast aluminum (like Wombats) that came polished.  I did polish them more.  Freshly polished they almost look chrome.  You can add the OEM rumber gaskets for a factory look too. I don't think steel OEM bumper are as rounded as the fiberglass one???  I can't see any pits in Wombats.

Nothing aftermarket fits exactly right; but these bumper guards being offered can and will look right when installed.

I can only speculate, but changing the entire bumper that was painted when the vehicle was painted may lead to seeing a variation in shade, tone, etc. once a painted bumper is added.  Sort of like changing a door, hood, or quarter panel hoping the paint matches exactly.

That said, a little time and effort can make the addition look quite good.
