I've had this buzz in my dash that's been driving me crazy. It happened about 2000 rpm so everytime you accelerated through that range.....BUZZ....everything you slowed down.......BUZZ........cruising at about 50....BUZZ. It was driving me crazy.

I'd been under the dash a dozen times tightening everything, rerouting wires, checking the speedo cable. Nothing. It sounded like the rivets holding the weather stripping in were buzzing.

Finally took my Boeing Engineer friend for a ride--it's nice to have an engineer on call, especially a past Chief Aerodynamicist for Boeing military aircraft! Anyway, he couldn't find it either but when I asked where he thought it was coming from, he circled the wiper and horn buttons. I reached over and touched the horn button an VOILA! No more noise.

It's incredible to me that this little all brass button vibrated enough to sound like the motor mounts were loose in the whole car! But that's what it was. I used some 1 and a half thousand feeler gauge stock and shimmed the button against the housing. No more buzz. Am I the only one to experience this? David

Not me, but I can relate to a weird noise that drives you NUTZ!!! When we put this engine in the spyder, at a certain RPM there was an odd metallic rattle. Very very disconcerting given the $$ in the engine, and it was the engine area, the 1,2,3 bank. Turned out the be a bit of sheet metal we had fabbed for an air duct was vibrating at 2-2500 rpm against the belly pan. A little piece of fuel line between the two fixed the problem.

Nice job on your fix. Glad it was cheap/easy repair.

This is really an old thread but I just found the high pitched buzz that always drove me crazy. The guilty culprit was the windshield wiper knob. How wierd is that? When you thump it with your index finger it makes a ratteling noise and going down the road you wouldn't believe how loud the high pitched buzzing sound was. I just couldn't imagine that little knob could make such a noise.

It didn't happe all the time---just when you were going fast enough to have a really bad crash from not watching the road.
