My CMC is for sale. A perspective buyer is 6'3".  He lives too far away to test sit in it.  Are any owners out there 6'3"?  If so, how is the fit while driving it? Thx - Bayniac

1957 CMC(Speedster)

Not 6'3" here! Worse case is he could add a recessed floor piece (looks like a paint roller tray) to driver's side - would keep his head below the windshield (and prevent him from dimpling your hard top!)  It probably depends how proportioned he is - long legs or long torso?  The seat can also be tilted back some and a smaller steering wheel install.  I find there is a lot more room in a pan based speedster than in a new Mazda Miata (which fits like a glove).

David's car is on a Metalcraft chassis. Everybody is shaped differently, but I'm not 6'3" and I can guarantee I'd want a dropped pan.

I've got the seat tipped back like a Gemini Rocket astronaut, and I still have the seat bolted to the floor of an IM (which has a dropped floor already).

I am certainly not height challenged at 5' 6-1/2", but I've seen a bunch of CMC cars so my 2¢:

  • A longer-torso person might need a lower floor to fit comfortably below the top of the windshield.  A lower floor needs to allow the seat to go a bit further back for longer legs.  See Alan's comment above.
  • You definitely cannot have the CMC "decorative roll bar" installed, because the upright pipes of the bar will not allow the seatback to lean back, especially if the seat is moved far back for longer legs.  I'm at the limit up against the roll bar with my puny frame and the seat reclined a bit.

Stan, if you ever come up this way during pleasant weather, I'll remove my windshield so you can drive my Spyder.

I'll supply you with goggles, but so sorry about the bugs in your teeth. That price you'll have to pay, my friend!

I'm 6' 4 and wear 34"-35" long pants. With the top up your field of vision is not great. Leg room is ok - I added a spacer to the steering https://www.flashpowerparts.co...-wheel-hub-extension and my steering wheel is dished out another 1.75" and I sit very comfortable. I also did find a low profile mounting brack for the seat.

I can try to get some picture of me in the car if you need them.
