Safety Jim is planning on being there!  I look forward to having better weather and hopefully a better looking and better working old speedster!

Only issue may be my work schedule as my company just made the acquisition of a key competitor.... and, I am very involved in the safety business vertical...

Here’s my New Years wish.  A smoothe running speedster and great weather this spring, summer and fall!

Wow.....Lotta SOC history in that photo.  From those chairs, I'm guessing the Caddy Shack.

"Diesel" John Estes on the left background, sitting next to Cory Drake then "Wild Bill" Drayer in the far background, a couple of the best mechanics on the planet in the right far background, then Mr. Piperato and "East Coast" Bruce Stumpp.

Oh! and the Grzynkowiecises, too!  Nice photo, Marty and Sandy.

And as it says on Danny Pip's shirt; "because, without beer, things do not seem to go as well..."

Too true.

GERD CAN'T MAKE IT.  [Note: the 'T is silent.]  How cool is that?  Note to Gerd:  get busy with Google Maps and realize that Carlisle is pretty much on the east end of PA, and Pittsburgh is only two long home runs from Ohio in the west. And yes the turnpike runs fast between the two, but it is a pretty long ways.  Harrisburg is by far closest airport to the town and hotel, but likely no way to have a non-stop flight, if that might be important.  One can go non-stop between SoCal and BWI (MUSBJIM has done this a few times) .  And has been said, BWI to hotel is about two hours by car..

And please, lets have some dry weather this time around.  And a new Coupe!!  And Cousin' Vinny.

Sandy and me are trying to make this year.  I'll only drive the IM Cafe Macchiato if the weather is decent.  Wow, I am going to need some grecian formula.  The years are clicking by too fast. IMG_0090

Come on, Marty.  Don't be afraid to get those driving gloves wet.

Trust me - it's a joy driving in a torrential downpour.

Yeah right:-0

Denver, lousy at preflight inspection... " Which tank has gas in it ?"

There was a lot more involved with that unnecessary and sad crash, Alan. Generally, you can make a few mistakes and survive a flight ok but if you make many mistakes all at once, your chance of survival go down quickly. From what I've heard, these were contributing factors in Denver's crash :

That lousy preflight for sure, then flying in unfamiliar airplane, flying at low altitude, flying in known hazard area ( large population of large birds in the area ) , fuel gauge had to be viewed in a rear view mirror, fuel tank valve was difficult to reach, fuel tank valve handle was broken and replaced with vice grip pliers, he knew he would have to transfer fuel from one tank to another, vice grips became dislodged from fuel valve at some point. There may have been even more to it. It was known that he previously had made bad decisions with other unrelated aircraft incidents and he also had some DUI type infractions. A sad case in all. I loved much of his music.

The hotel from previous years contends with a number of local events (college graduations etc.) the same week as the Carlisle weekend . They proposed a hefty increase room price,  no longer included the Hospitality room  for free wanting $100 daily for 4 hour use of hospitality room also dragged their feet for further negotiation  of a room contract. They basically they were not  eager about our group smaller room block. It quickly became clear that  Court Yard Mechanicsburg PA was no longer a good choice.

.........Courtyard Shippensburg 2019 = Lower room rate , Free larger hospitality room, huge outdoor patio with the fire pit.  Free breakfasts and a hotel staff eager to go the extra mile for us~
